Welcome to my classes!  I am very excited to be your teacher this year.  This is my second year at St. Anne School and my sixth year to teach in the Memphis area.  I graduated from the University of Memphis and I am working on my Masters of Art in Teaching during the summers.  I am looking forward to a great year! Thank you for visiting my website.  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you ever need anything.

 My email is:  SInghram@stannehighland.net

School telephone number:  901-323-1344

When Absent:

1. Student will be provided with a “make up” worksheet.  The student will have as many days to complete the make up work as he/she was absent.  In case of a severe/prolonged illness arrangements may be made between the parents and the teacher to provide extra time to complete assignments. (Documentation of the illness will need to be on file in the school office.)

2.  Student can also check the website.

3.  It is the student’s responsibility to complete all missed work AND to turn it in.

4.  Make sure that you write ABSENT on the top of the page.

Note:  If student is still missing work at the end of the nine week grading period, he/she may not be allowed to turn it in for full credit.

Math 5/Math 6

Lots of helpful resources are provided on line from the publishers of your math book.  The web address is:

sadlier-oxford.com  - click on math and then click on grade 5.  You’ll find lots of extra practice, activities and games.

Supplies:

You are to arrive in class everyday with:

1. Your agenda book

2. Your homework folder

3. Your math text, workbook and binder.

4. Pencils and highlighter

All work is to be done in pencil.  Bring one colored pen for checking and a highlighter of any color.

Classwork:

Time is given in class to do classwork.  Any work that is not completed will become homework and will be due the next day.

Homework:

Homework will be given 2-3 times per week.  Homework is graded on effort.  Everyone completing homework will be given a 100%.  Students must ATTEMPT all problems.  Students will stay in homework detention that day if the work is not turned in on time.  If the work cannot be finished during HW detention, it should be finished that night an turned in the next calendar day.  25 points will be deducted for work completed in HW detention.  25 points will then be deducted each calendar day that the work is not turned in.  Students should turn in late work as soon as possible and not wait until the next time that the class meets.

Grading:  Homework/Weekly Participation- weighted 20%

                Quizzes/Class work- weighted 20%

                Tests/Projects- weighted at 60%

Students should do their own homework. Guidance on directions from family members is fine, but the student should arrive at his/her own answers.

Math Facts:

Be sure to practice math facts at home often.  Lack of mastery of these facts is one of the leading causes of  math problems and low grades in middle school.
